Tech Focus: Comrex has released two new versions of Gagl: Gagl + Hotline and Gagl Solo.
Gagl Standard (available since 2023) is a subscription service that works with Comrex IP audio codecs. It allows up to five remote contributors to connect to the studio codec simultaneously using equipment such as laptops or smartphones. Contributors plug in a headset, click a link, and are connected. Gagl Standard is available worldwide for US$35/month or US$350/year.
Gagl + Hotline allows one of the participants within a Gagl session to connect by dialing a 10-digit phone number provided by Comrex. Contributors call using an AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon cell phone. Gagl + Hotline can be set up to join an existing conference or answer phone calls and transfer them to a Comrex codec. Hotline circumvents traditional networks, so audio isn’t compressed to meet PSTN standards. As a result, the caller’s audio is delivered in HD Voice quality. Gagl + Hotline is available in the United States for US$50/month or US$500/year.
Gagl Solo offers a subset of Gagl Standard features and is designed for individual contributors to connect to the studio using a web browser. Gagl Solo is available worldwide, free of charge.
