Tech Focus: Comrex Access MultiRack is an IP audio multicodec — equivalent to five codecs, housed in a single 1 RU chassis. The company explains that MultiRack is capable of five simultaneous full-duplex connections with any Comrex IP audio codec. For large enterprises managing multiple STLs, MultiRack promises to make it easy to consolidate discrete links into one system.
All five codecs within MultiRack feature platform-agnostic AES67 inputs/outputs, meaning that they can be configured to work within any AoIP environment. MultiRack is configured and controlled with an easy-to-use browser-based interface, making it easy to adjust settings from anywhere.
MultiRack also offers HotSwap and CrossLock. HotSwap allows users to back up studio-to-transmitter links (STL) or other dedicated links with a wireless modem. Users can select a network that will only be engaged if the primary network fails and will automatically fall back to the primary network once it’s restored. Failover to backup happens in seconds, and fallback is seamless. CrossLock is Comrex’s proprietary suite of reliability tools, ensuring connections stay solid even on marginal networks.
