Rajar has released the United Kingdom’s radio audience figures for the fourth quarter of 2022. They show that over that period, 49.7 million adults or 89% of the adult (15+) U.K. population tuned in to their selected radio stations each week for an average of 20.3 hours. This is largely unchanged compared to the Q3 figures.
In terms of the audience that tunes in using a digital device, that figure is also unchanged at 74%.
Little has changed since the previous quarter regarding how radio audiences in the U.K. access their favorite programs. There was a marginal upward bump in tablet and mobile phone usage. If there’s anything of significance, it’s the noticeable increase in smart speaker use to listen to radio. In Q4, 64% of smart speaker owners used it to listen to live radio, up from 53% in Q3; 32% do so every day, up from 22% in the previous quarter.
