Music Production for Women and music distribution services company DistroKid are teaming up for a four-city European tour of free music production masterclasses aimed at women and gender minorities.
The “EmpowHer Sound—Live” series will take place in July, with events scheduled in London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Dublin. MPW founder and CEO Xylo Aria will lead the sessions, which will cover topics such as beatmaking, synthesis and audio effects.
According to the organisers, the workshops are designed to help beginner producers build skills and community in a supportive space. They say the initiative follows strong demand after previous U.K. events attracted nearly 200 participants. It is also inspired by a study finding that only 5.9% of producing credits were held by women on the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End Charts in 2024.
The events, backed by Novation, Kilohearts and DistroKid, are hosted by the University of Westminster, SRH University and Trinity College Dublin’s music department. Tickets are free until capacity is reached.
Each city event will include a prize draw, with one attendee winning a Focusrite Studio Bundle, Novation Launchkey Mini and Kilohearts plugins valued at over €650.
MPW says the workshops are open to all genders, though they are focused on empowering women and gender-diverse musicians. Since its launch six years ago, the organisation has reached over 8,000 artists from over 120 countries.
