The upcoming Audio Engineering Society AES Nashville show will feature a discussion panel examining transporting multichannel surround/immersive sound to consumers. That could include radio listeners.
“From Stage to Stream: Delivering Live Entertainment in Dolby Atmos” will convene, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m., at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, Nashville, Tenn.
An announcements said, “For engineers, broadcasters, streaming services, producers and rights holders, the session will offer a practical look at where live Atmos streaming stands today, and what it will take to bring audiences closer to concerts, festivals, award shows, sporting events and other live performances.”
For radio broadcasters sports events would certainly be an area of interest. It should also be noted that radio likes to think of itself as king of the car. With multichannel audio being a growth industry inside the car, radio broadcasters need to be paying attention to filling all those new speakers… or risk getting left behind. While traditional radio may be limited, your streaming channel is designed to be futureproof.
AES Show Nashville Convention Chair Graham Kirk said, “Live entertainment in Dolby Atmos is moving from possibility to practice, making this a timely conversation for the audio community.”
