Lumit is a school for performing arts in Kuopio, Finland. It recently upgraded its speakers in four classrooms and a studio, which now feature Genelec monitors.
Ville Heikkinen, a music lecturer and coordinator of the music studies department, was one of the school’s lead project planner. He said, “We were looking for an audio system that would provide high quality listening and also act as a great band PA.” explains Heikkinen.
He added, “Following discussions with Henri Ulmanen from Genelec about what I hoped to achieve, he offered to provide us with a pair of S360s and a subwoofer for testing in our band class…”
To the S360s were added a 7380 subwoofer.
Two other rooms received various configurations consisting of wall-mounted 8330s or the slightly larger 8340 two-way loudspeakers matched with a 7370 subwoofer.
The studio features 8361 three-way speakers and a 7380 subwoofer.
Heikkinen summed up, “Frankly, it worked out great across all genres. Initially I was a bit nervous about the short-term max SPL of 118 dB for the band — but in reality, even pushing it as hard as we could during our rehearsals, we couldn’t make it peak out — and we tried pretty hard!”
