Edison Research has released what it calls the first comprehensive Top 25 podcasts chart for the United Kingdom. This list ranks the 25 biggest podcasts based on total weekly audience reach measured by Edison Podcast Metrics U.K. The metrics measure the relative audience size and demographics of all podcasts and podcast networks in the United Kingdom.
This ranking is the first venture of Edison Podcast Metrics into the U.K. market by U.S.-based Edison Research. The Q2 2023 ranker is based on data collected continuously during the second quarter of 2023 by interviewing 2,273 weekly podcast consumers in the U.K. aged 15 and older. Participants indicated which podcasts they listened to in the past week and provided various demographic, psychographic, and purchase-behavior information.
According to the ranking, the top three podcasts in the U.K. for Q2 2023 were “The Joe Rogan Experience,” “The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett,” and “Off Menu” with Ed Gamble and James Acaster.
“It’s here! We are excited to officially launch Edison Podcast Metrics and be the first to present an all-inclusive and comprehensive ranker in the U.K.,” said Edison Research Senior Vice President Melissa Kiesche. “We have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and look forward to watching the continued growth of the shows and networks defining the space.”
Edison says its Podcast Metrics is unique because it does not depend on podcast download data or require podcast networks to opt into its service. The company will survey at least 2,000 weekly podcast listeners in the U.K. each quarter for the service and collect listening behavior regardless of the listening platform. This methodology is the same used in the U.S.
If you wish to compare the U.K. podcast ranking with the U.S., you can find the U.S. data for the same period here.
