DHD.audio has launched its new MX3 console range at IBC2026 in Amsterdam. The third generation of DHD’s Series 52 control surfaces retains the modularity, operational versatility and expandability of earlier models while adding capabilities for changing production workflows. Full compatibility with existing external DHD processing cores allows broadcasters to upgrade individual components without replacing an entire system.
MX3 supports the evolution toward what the EBU calls the Dynamic Media Facility, in which production resources can be assigned as workflows require. Secure standard IP networking between desktop control panels and local or remote processing cores replaces the DHD APC audio, power and control protocol used in current Series 52 systems. The range also supports AES67, Dante, Ravenna and SMPTE ST 2110 for large-channel-capacity AoIP installations.
Each MX3 module operates as a self-contained network device, connecting through standard Ethernet with PoE+ over a single cable per console column. A typical configuration combines a central module with six-fader expansion modules in a frame, with optional overbridge modules and displays. Operators can add, exchange or repair modules during operation, while the assignment between the console and processing core is no longer fixed.
Displays across the control surface show the current functions of adjacent controls according to the selected view. Marc Herrmann, managing director of DHD.audio, noted, “Control surfaces, processing cores, analog and digital connectivity, software and APIs, all unite into a single system which can be upgraded or expanded to any desired extent at any time as new standards are adopted or studios are repurposed. What remains are the system and the existing investment.”
DHD, which is marking its 30th anniversary, says installations of its systems have surpassed 10,000 units.
The company is presenting the MX3 range at IBC2026 through Sept. 14 at Stand 8.B46.
