Hit hard by COVID-19 in March 2020, the event industry still suffers from what appears to be the last tremors of this all-too-long health crisis. The ensuing historic inflation hasn’t helped. Despite the difficulties, Editions HF is hosting 2024’s The Paris Radio Show, on Feb. 6 and 7. According to organizers, they expect more than 80 exhibitors and will hold dozens of value-added events.
The La Bellevilloise Arts and Culture Center will host the event. Nestled in the heart of Paris, the venue stands as a monument to history and innovation. Spanning over 2,000 m², this versatile space can accommodate up to 11,490 people, depending on configuration, making it the ideal venue for various events.
Founded in 1877, following the Paris Commune, La Bellevilloise was the first Parisian cooperative. Its original mission was to democratize access to political and cultural education for modest citizens. This place of resistance played a crucial role in eastern Paris’s economic and artistic life, particularly between 1910 and 1949. It was a forerunner in direct trade, “from producer to consumer.” Today, La Bellevilloise hosts over 600 events organized annually; it is a crossroads for encounters, exchanges, and artistic expression and retains its independent, artistic, and festive spirit. The Paris Radio Show is part of this approach, offering two days of encounters, experiments, showcases, panels and convivial moments over a drink on every floor. Each floor has its own bar where you can enjoy a drink anytime. All this makes the venue ideal for bringing people and ideas together, which the industry needs.
Towards greater audio synergy
The synergy between audio players is not immediately apparent. The so-called native podcast industry is developing, but not all radio players, due to a lack of time and, for some, curiosity, are aware of or embracing the arrival of these new human and editorial resources. Salon 2024 is “Audio First” and offers many constructive encounters between all the players in the audio industry to understand better the many business models and exchange views on the challenges each, and sometimes all, players face. The organizers are confident that any apprehensions radio and podcast publishers are experiencing will evaporate through open exchange and mutual interest. Diversity in radio and podcasting will also have its place at the show. It may be ‘The Paris Radio Show’ by name, but it’s all about audio.
