Summ’it aims to connect audiences through audio storytelling
Thai Government Radio’s Public Relations Department (PRD) says it has completed installing Orban Optimod 5950 digital audio processors across six FM sites, updating its radio transmission infrastructure. The upgrades cover A.S. Radio (King Palace, Bangkok), PRD Chonburi, PRD Phang Nga, PRD Yasothon, PRD Lampang and PRD Nakhon Si Thammarat.
PRD says its mission is to inform the public, both local and foreign, of the Thai government’s policies and activities, while reflecting the people’s needs and concerns. It says the stations are now using the latest-generation Orban FM audio processing to improve on-air loudness, clarity and consistency while remaining within broadcast standards. The Optimod 5950 units have been deployed across multiple transmission chains to deliver uniform performance and operational resilience, according to Orban.
Mike Pappas, senior vice president of global sales at Orban, said the deployment reflects a focus on reliability and audio quality. He added that Orban worked alongside systems integrator JAA Systems on the project.
“The Optimod 5950 delivers a powerful yet clean FM sound with excellent consistency and control,” said Pairoj Veeranondh, CEO of Broadcast and Studio Co., Ltd., which was involved in the installation. “It is a highly reliable processor for high-power FM operations such as A.S. Radio and other PRD stations.”
David Chan, CEO of JAA Systems, said the project shows how audio processing technology can shape a broadcaster’s on-air identity, citing consistent loudness, clarity and control as key requirements for high-power FM services.
PRD says the installation forms part of its ongoing investment in broadcast infrastructure across its national and regional radio services.
