After 13 years of working for Belgian broadcaster VRT’s youth station MNM, host Peter Van de Veire has announced his departure, set for April next year.

Van de Veire joined VRT’s Studio Brussel in 1999 and was one of the “founding fathers” of MNM in 2008.

On Monday, Jan. 5, that year, the “Grote Peter Van de Veire Ochtendshow” (The Big Peter Van de Veire morning show) was the first program to air on MNM. The show has been one of the station’s crown jewels for almost 13 years, and Van de Veire was very inventive in the locations he worked. In 2018, he presented the morning show live from New York using remote radio technology.

“Peter is MNM — he was there from day one and is about to close his MNM episode. We want to sincerely thank him for being there, for both the audience and for us, his colleagues. Without Peter, the station wouldn’t have the status it enjoys today,” said Steven Lemmens, channel manager of MNM.

“I’ve seen MNM grow from a baby to today’s teenager,” said Van de Veire. “We have secured a pool of young and active radio talent. I can only say that the past 13 years were spectacular.”

He will continue to host the MNM morning drive until April 1. The next day, he will broadcast his farewell show from Antwerp’s 17,000-seater Sportpaleis.

Van de Veire is also teaming up with his former Studio Brussel colleagues in a temporary radio station for this year’s “Warmste Week” (Warmest Week) — Dec. 18–24.
