The International Student Broadcasting Championship (ISBC) returns this year, continuing its role as a global platform for student media talent.
The ISBC, founded by industry and education professionals, offers students and graduates opportunities in networking, feedback, personal brand development and career-launching in the media industry. “The primary focus of ISBC is development, and what makes ISBC special is the feedback and access provided to our student community from industry professionals on an international level,” said ISBC co-founder Phillip Vinciullo.
ISBC is designed to help students transition from education to the media industry. The competition includes various media formats, from radio broadcasting to video content creation and esports casting. The aim is to identify the best emerging talent globally and connect them with industry employers.
“ISBC is about more than just winning awards; it’s about helping students transition from campus to career,” said ISBC co-founder Annwen Burrows. “We’re here to support them every step of the way.”
Jobs portal and expanded categories
This year, ISBC introduced the ISBC Jobs Portal on its website, offering registered students and faculty access to current entry-level job information worldwide. The portal aims to become a key resource for students transitioning into the industry.
“In these challenging times, our focus is on helping graduates find jobs and opportunities globally,” said Vinciullo. “We believe ISBC can provide development, opportunities and solutions for graduates and industry.”
The competition will also introduce new categories in Sports Broadcasting and Esports Broadcasting, reflecting the growing significance of these areas in global media. “Our goal is to adapt and expand to meet the needs of the industry, students and graduates,” said ISBC co-founder Marcel Marais. “By adding these categories, especially esports, we’re recognizing the talents of sports and esports broadcasters and aligning ISBC with industry developments.”
How to enter
Students can submit entries through the ISBC website, which features a user-friendly submission process, detailed category listings and resources, including tips from industry professionals. The platform also offers ongoing support and advice to participants.
A panel of current media professionals from leading companies will judge the entries. Winners will be announced during a live-streamed finale on Nov. 22.
