
Content is Queen and Spotify are hosting the International Women’s Podcast Festival 2024 — a two-day event to unite the global community of female innovators and leaders in podcasting, audio and broadcasting. The festival will take place on Oct. 3–4, 2024, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in Central London, forming part of the Southbank Centre’s Summer Literature Season.
The festival, now in its fourth year, is a celebration of diversity and creativity in the podcasting industry, offering an intersectional experience tailored to help podcasters create and grow in an inclusive and inviting space. It includes live podcast shows, masterclasses and workshop curation designed to accelerate careers and develop audio skills.
Content is Queen is an award-winning podcasting agency, and community focused on empowering minority voices through audio storytelling. It says it aims for true inclusion and diversity support by offering comprehensive podcasting services, including production, promotion and professional studio access. Its initiatives extend to educational membership programs, creator grants and commitment to equality in audio. With studios in London, it provides a base for podcasters to record in a professional environment.
Celebration and recognition
IWPF 2024 also marks a decade since the launch on Oct. 3, 2014, of the Serial podcast hosted by American journalist Sarah Koenig, considered a pivotal moment in the evolution of podcasting. Distinguished as the first-ever podcast recipient of a Peabody Award, Serial has achieved remarkable success with over 420 million downloads, making it the most consumed podcast in the medium’s history. To celebrate the occasion and recognize Serial’s impact significant impact and innovation, Koenig will open IWPF 2024. She will talk about uncovering stories, her journalistic journey and navigating the audio industry as a woman.
Koenig says, “I cannot wait to come hang out with a bunch of women interested in audio and all the different ways we use it to tell stories. There was no way I was going to pass up this event.”
