Ram Singh Bouddh, director of the Mann Ki Baat Radio Museum at Siddharth Inter College in Uttar Pradesh, India, has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as having the largest collection of radios in the world. Although Bouddh has 1400 radio sets, the Guinness record guidelines mandated that to be measured, radio sets needed to be unique within the collection, so duplicates were not counted. In total, he has 1257 unique radio sets
The previous record was a collection of 625 different radios held by M Prakash in July 2005.
Bouddh wrote a letter to RedTech with his remarkable story, which we carried in the March/April 2024 edition of the magazine. You can read the article here.
His journey to protect India’s rich radio heritage has not been easy. In his letter, Bouddh says, “Despite suffering three cardiac arrests due to the rigorous efforts involved in collecting these radios, my passion, zeal and enthusiasm for preserving this rich cultural heritage of entertainment and communication remain undiminished.”
Bouddh’s collection — and determination — has earned him significant recognition in India’s national media over the years and by the country’s prime minister, Narendra Modi.
