Matt Fisher, a former BBC Radio 1 producer, has launched Hundred Hand Slap, a production music and sound design library aimed at radio producers, imaging teams and audio creators.
Fisher spent more than 20 years creating station sound, sonic branding and audio imaging for BBC stations including Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, 1Xtra and BBC Asian Network, as well as broadcasters in other markets.
The platform offers talkover beds, competition drones, imaging effects, sound design elements and production music. Fisher said Hundred Hand Slap is also developing into a community of composers, producers and sound designers working in radio and audio production. The library includes a search engine that allows users to browse content by mood, genre, station format, instrumentation and era.
Hundred Hand Slap has registered its music with PRS and MCPS. The company said broadcasters can use the content through standard music reporting procedures and access the library free of charge.
According to Fisher, the platform has released more than 40 albums in its first five months, with additional releases in production and new content added each week. He added that several composers and sound designers from the radio imaging and broadcast audio sector plan to release exclusive albums through the platform.
Fisher said, “Producers have never been asked to create more content. I wanted to build a place where great-sounding audio is easy to find, quick to use and built entirely with producers in mind. What excites me most, though, is the community we’re building around it. There are so many talented composers, producers and sound designers in our industry, and Hundred Hand Slap is becoming a place where those people can collaborate, create and grow together.”
