GatesAir has appointed Tamjeed Ahmad as South Asia regional sales manager. Ahmad will represent GatesAir in India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, focusing on FM radio and digital television projects.
With nearly 20 years of broadcast industry experience, including roles at AJA Video Systems and Imagine Communications, Ahmad brings extensive knowledge of the South Asia market. His appointment coincides with new opportunities from the Indian government’s private FM licensing initiative, which aims to add up to 730 FM channels in Tier II and III cities. This initiative will require significant upgrades to transmission infrastructure, including new FM transmitters.
In his new role, Ahmad will work with GatesAir’s in-country partners, including Horizon Broadcast in India, to support FM licensing and TV projects. This collaboration will cover site planning, systems design, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning and post-sales support.
GatesAir’s product offerings for new FM broadcasters in India include the Flexiva GX family of analog transmitters and the Flexiva FAX and FLX models for those considering a future transition to digital radio.
“GatesAir’s reputation in South Asia is built on a long history of successful projects and reliable transmitter performance,” said Ahmad. “I look forward to leveraging my regional experience and customer relationships to expand GatesAir’s presence in the region.”
“Tamjeed’s experience and technical knowledge make him a strong addition to our APAC team,” said Jacky Yee, head of APAC sales. “We look forward to his contributions as we engage with new opportunities in South Asia.”
