GatesAir has appointed Russell Darrell as regional sales manager for Western Europe.
Darrell joins the transmission equipment manufacturer with more than 20 years of experience in radio operations, broadcast systems and transmitter sales across Europe and Asia. In his new role, he will oversee GatesAir sales activities across several Western European markets, including the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Ireland and the Nordic countries.
According to GatesAir, Darrell will work alongside Alexander Kurz, regional sales manager for Central and Eastern Europe, to strengthen the company’s coverage across the continent.
Darrell joins GatesAir from Broadcast Electronics, where he served as international sales manager. He has also held senior roles at Elenos Group and Eddystone Broadcast. Earlier in his career, he worked on radio operations and broadcast infrastructure projects in Thailand and Myanmar.

Darrell said broadcasters are increasingly seeking efficiency, reliability and remote monitoring capabilities as they modernize their transmission infrastructure. “Customers today are looking beyond transmitter power alone,” he said. “They want efficiency, reliability, remote visibility and strong long-term support.”
Mark Goins, vice president of global sales at GatesAir, said Darrell’s experience across transmission technology and broadcast operations would support the company’s European growth strategy. “Russell brings a rare combination of hands-on radio experience, deep transmission knowledge and proven international sales leadership,” Goins said.
