Ferncast has released version 3.11 of its aixtream audio software, introducing new features that enhance secure and efficient audio transport for broadcasters.
According to the company, the update enhances aixtream’s support for complex workflows such as studio-transmitter links, improving synchronization, encapsulation and output compatibility. New features include MPX signal output for FM transmitters, RTP stream encapsulation in SRT and synchronized playout over AoIP protocols like RTP, AES67 and SRT.
Ferncast says aixtream 3.11 also introduces a dedicated SRT source element, improved handling of SRT connections, and updated visual indicators of audio activity within its PIPE architecture. Offline and online licensing is more streamlined, with integrated license file downloads and updates.
The update simplifies podcasting workflows through features like parallel uploads, configurable upload priorities and retries — improvements that, according to Ferncast, will soon be implemented by Deutschlandradio.
Additional enhancements include support for audio interfaces with input- or output-only channels, improved handling of passthrough data, and better compatibility with HTTP servers used in HLS streaming.
