For a long time, broadcasters distributing programs in multiple formats required the purchase and operation of multiple different systems, at least one for each format. When considering distribution via FM, DVB, DAB and the internet, that adds up to a lot of systems.
Ferncast says that its aixtream Concentrator offers a solution that covers multiple different applications. Based on Ferncast’s award-winning aixtream solution, the aixtream Concentrator is a full-matrix, highly scalable solution that scales horizontally and vertically. Customers can not only output multiple different formats from the same inputs, but also do so at great scale, according to the company.
A single system can deliver hundreds of different outputs, including different encodings and audio formats, versions and qualities. Broadcasters can use their existing audio-over-IP network to transport the audio for all their audio distribution paths to a single aixtream Concentrator, which then delivers DVB MPEG TS, DAB premux, HLS/DASH and Icecast streams as well as MPX-over-IP.
This efficiency will save a tremendous amount of money. Part of the savings can then go into backup scenarios to make the installation extremely robust at little cost.
