Cultural Survival has announced a call for projects for its Indigenous Community Media Fund. The fund provides grants to strengthen Indigenous community media, including radio stations. The initiative supports projects that enhance infrastructure, train community journalists and ensure the sustainability of media managed by Indigenous Peoples.
This year’s fund prioritizes projects focused on environmental justice and responses to climate change. It continues to emphasize the inclusion of women, marginalized genders and youth in media processes. Eligible projects include infrastructure improvements, capacity building, content production in Indigenous languages and advocacy for the democratization of communication.
The fund is open to Indigenous community radio stations, collectives and media networks across Central and South America, North America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Grants are available up to $8,000 for individual stations and $12,000 for media networks involving three or more partners. Projects should be completed within six to 10 months.
Applications, including a narrative proposal and budget, can be submitted in English, Spanish, French or Portuguese by email to radio@culturalsurvival.org. Additional materials, such as a portfolio or media samples, are encouraged.
The application deadline is Jan. 26, 2025.
