Often caught in the commotion of all the new goodies and exciting things-to-come at the NAB Show, the rudimentary, run-of-the-mill basics get overlooked. The HD Radio importer/exporter, not very long ago a whizz-bang gadget itself could be such an example.
Broadcast Electronics will be unveiling the IXplus, a new HD Radio importer/exporter at the NAB Show. Based in a rackmounted server, the IXplus is a software-based system. According to an announcement, it “connects, manages, and multiplexes all HD Radio Advanced Applications Services in a simple-to-use consolidated interface, including HD2, HD3, HD4… supplemental audio channels into the HD Radio data payload that is combined with the HD1 main program services and sent to the Exgen interface in the HD Radio enabled FM exciter for broadcast.”
Being a software-based design it is wide open to interacting with other software-based systems such as automation and media management services.
Broadcast Electronics President, and COO Rich Redmond said, “The IXplus not only provides a simple cost-effective solution for HD Radio, but it’s also a comprehensive software-based services platform that can enable new audio and data streams and revenue for broadcasters.”
Broadcast Electronics will be in Booth W3301.
