Broadcast Electronics is bringing a new AM transmitter to the NAB NY show in New York.
This one is the AMX 1, a 1 kW unit, joining the AMX 3 and AMX 5, 3 kW and 5 kW models, respectively.
AMX line is built around SiCore, silicon carbide RF power amplifier technology, which is said to allow for lighter amplifiers with more durability and greater power efficiency.
A release offers that the SiCore technology “changes everything about how AM transmitters are designed, built, and protected. Higher efficiency. Superior transient resistance. A Safe Mode that protects the amplifier within approximately one microsecond of a lightning or arc event.”
Also included is modulation-dependent carrier level (MDCL) technology for further energy efficiency.
The AMX line even offers an unusual treat — an onboard Orban processor designed for AM duty. f
Broadcast Electronics President and CEO Rich Redmond said, “… customers who ordered the three and 5 kW versions naturally asked if they could get the same great capabilities and unique AMX value at the 1 kW level. We believe all customers deserve lower cost of ownership, simplified operation and software-enabled flexibility, AMX 1 delivers exactly what they have asked for.”
Of course the whole package can be monitored and operated via a web browser.
BE will be in Booth 456.
