Last week Bauer Media extended its DAB+ digital radio broadcasts to the cities of Gothenburg and Malmö.
Originally slated to begin this summer the new digital services got a late start due to the ongoing health crisis.
The broadcasts are the latest in a series of DAB+ launches around the country. In July 2019, public broadcaster Swedish Radio began broadcasting via DAB+ in Stockholm, Södertälje, Uppsala, Gothenburg, Malmö and Luleå.
A few days later, entertainment company NENT Group launched DAB+ services in Stockholm, Uppsala and Gävle, subsequently expanding its digital radio reach to Gothenburg and Malmö.
Bauer Media announced last February that it would launch DAB+ in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö this summer. Despite the slight delay, reports say the latest launches extend the sphere of Bauer Media’s DAB+ services through its 10 radio stations to about 40% of the country.
