The Barix RetailPlayer is a platform for multi-channel streaming of background music. Its portal runs in the cloud, and provides management of multiple players at once. It can also be installed at specific locations.
The RetailPlayer streaming device can be configured and managed online. The system can offer priority handling with the ability to include announcements. It also has multiple schedulers to plan ad inserts, availability and moods throughout the day.
Barix notes that some of the advantages of RetailPlayer are remote failover track downloading and local fallback storage, an under 10-second startup time from cold (including a music stream playing) and smooth fading between music and announcements from local or remote paging stations.
RetailPlayer supports FLAC, Opus, AACplus, MP3 and PCM decoding.
