The Alliance for IP Media Solutions says its IP Oktoberfest 2020 will highlight the industry’s “significant progress” toward an all-IP ecosystem supporting today’s real-world media productions.
The live, interactive, virtual event for broadcast and pro AV professionals begins Tuesday Sept. 29 and runs through Thursday Oct. 1.
“As a dynamic, real-time event, IP Oktoberfest 2020 will offer informative presentations with plenty of opportunity for discussion,” said AIMS Chairman of the Board Mike Cronk.
“We have built an impressive presentation lineup, with experts from leading technology suppliers and forward-looking media organizations sharing their insights and experiences. We’re confident that any operation moving toward IP will benefit from the remarkable knowledge and expertise our presenters bring to the table.”
The virtual meeting will run daily from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. EDT (4–7 p.m. CEST). The organizers explain that IP Oktoberfest 2020 is not a webinar.
“This live event will provide participants with numerous opportunities for education, interaction, and networking in a dynamic, online environment that makes it easy to move freely between meeting areas — including a live presentation stage, virtual pub, and meeting and networking areas,” it said in a statement.
Among presenters are Felix Poulin, director, Media Transport Architecture and Lab, CBC/Radio Canada. He will speak about Networked Media Open Specification. Philippe Mauduit, CEO, BCE France will also take the podium. Mauduit will discuss how Radio France is implementing its headquarters at the “Maison de la Radio” with next-gen IP technology.
In addition, Andreas Hildebrand of ALC NetworX will discuss the ins and outs of IEEE Std 1588-2019 (PTP v2.1)
There is no cost to participate in IP Oktoberfest 2020, and registration details are online here.
