Philippe Generali to retire from RCS Worldwide leadership role

RCS Worldwide says Philippe Generali will retire as President and CEO on Feb. 28 to pursue personal interests and new ventures across Europe and the United States, ending nearly three decades at the broadcast software company.

The company says Generali will step out of his executive role but will remain involved for a further 12 months as a senior consultant. In that capacity, he will work with Mark Gray, CEO of Katz Media, who has overseen RCS for several years, to support continuity while a new CEO is identified.

Generali joined RCS in 1996 as a product manager and was appointed president in 2000 before later becoming President and CEO of RCS Worldwide. During his tenure, RCS expanded its software portfolio across radio, television and digital media and grew its international footprint, according to the company.

An extraordinary visionary leader

RCS says Generali was instrumental in the creation of Media Monitors and later brought Florical Systems, focused on television automation, and Mediabase, which provides music and audience analytics, into the group.

“Philippe has been an extraordinary visionary and leader in shaping RCS into the global powerhouse it is today,” Gray said. “We are grateful for his decades of dedication and are excited to build on the strong foundation and talented leadership team that he leaves behind.”

According to RCS, Generali was closely involved in the development of music scheduling, automation and data-driven tools, and was an active participant in industry organizations including EGTA, IRTS and the Market Research Council. The company says he was a regular speaker at international industry events, including the NAB Show, Radiodays Europe, Radiodays Asia and IBC.

“It’s been a phenomenal ride — working with incredible people and building something that truly changed the industry,” Generali said. “I’m proud of the bold steps we’ve taken together and the lasting impact we’ve made.”
