GatesAir will introduce its Maxiva XTK software-defined exciter to international audiences at IBC2026, taking place Sept. 11–14 at RAI Amsterdam. The exciter provides the signal processing and modulation platform for the company’s Maxiva DAB/DAB+ radio and digital television transmitters. GatesAir designed the common platform to support current transmission standards while allowing broadcasters to add future capabilities through field-installed firmware updates.
The XTK supports DAB and DAB+ alongside DVB-T2, ATSC 1.0, ATSC 3.0, ISDB-Tb and emerging Brazilian DTV+ television standards. Its FPGA-based architecture increases processing capacity and uses real-time adaptive correction to optimize signal performance across different RF amplifier configurations. The platform also incorporates transport stream over IP capabilities for delivering broadcast transport streams across IP networks.
Steve Rossiter, TV systems applications engineer at GatesAir, pointed to the XTK’s combination of processing capacity, signal optimization and international standards support. “Whether broadcasters are operating digital television or DAB radio networks, the XTK delivers the performance, flexibility and investment protection they need to confidently adapt to changing technologies while maintaining the exceptional reliability that defines every Maxiva transmitter,” he said. Its modular architecture also provides a path for optional internal satellite and RF input capabilities.
