U.DAB launches largest small-scale DAB multiplex in the U.K.

U.DAB, a London-based digital radio multiplex operator, has launched what it describes as the largest Small-Scale DAB multiplex in the U.K., bringing 26 radio services on air across North and Central London. The fully licensed multiplex went live on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, following an extended trial period.

U.DAB operates the digital transmission infrastructure that allows multiple radio services to broadcast on a single DAB signal. The Small-Scale DAB framework, introduced by the U.K. regulator Ofcom, is designed to support community and smaller commercial broadcasters by reducing the cost and complexity of digital transmission.

The company says the licensed service now operates with twice as many transmitters as during trials, extending coverage to an estimated four million adults. According to U.DAB, the expanded transmitter network is intended to improve indoor and mobile reception and support a broader range of local and specialist services.

Shareholders in U.DAB Ltd include Audessence, Sammy Jacob, Solar Broadcasting, Muxnet and community stations Reprezent, Rinse, Resonance, Nagrecha Radio, The Beat and Rainbow Radio.

The launch line-up includes Reprezent, Rinse FM, Resonance, Resonance Extra, Nagrecha Radio, Rainbow Radio, The Beat London, Radio Caroline, Select Radio, Kool FM, CDNX (Camden Xperience), Soho Radio, Starpoint Soul, Solar Radio, Asian Star Radio, LGR (London Greek Radio), Delite Radio, Angel Vintage Ldn, Ruach Radio, Fun Kids, Liberty Radio, GreekBeat Radio, Polish Radio, House FM, Shine 879 and Hellas Radio UK.

Martin Spencer, founder of U.DAB Ltd, said the launch marked the completion of a long-term project and reflected the commitment of participating stations. He added, “We can now look forward to an exciting future with a fantastic spectrum of community and independent local commercial stations on U.DAB, continuing to broaden the distinctive and worthwhile range of DAB listening choices for London we’ve pioneered since 2015.”

U.DAB says limited capacity remains available for additional services.
