As the holiday season gets into full gear in the United States, it is time for radio stations unleash the radiothons for various local and national charities.
Cumulus Media has announced that its WXMX(FM) in Memphis, Tenn., raised over $1 million in its 98.1 The Max Ronald McDonald House Radiothon, Nov. 7. The targeted recipient is the local Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis.
Cumulus Memphis Vice President/Market Manager Morgan Bohannon said, “This is what local radio is all about — connecting with the community and making a real difference… 98.1 The Max extends its deepest gratitude to our listeners, sponsors, volunteers, and the Ronald McDonald House team for making this year’s radiothon an unforgettable success.”
The announcement noted that it was the second consecutive year that WXMX’s radiothon topped seven figures. It also said, “All funds raised will go directly toward housing, meals, and support services for families staying at Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.”
