Broadcasters renew push for U.S. AM radio legislation on Capitol Hill
Quu, the U.S. company that provides technology enabling radio stations to display visual content, such as music, station information and advertising, on car dashboards, has signed a three-year agreement with CEO Steve Newberry to continue leading the company.
Since joining Quu in 2020, Newberry has overseen growth to more than 2,000 stations now using its patented system. The company says these “Visual Quus” give radio a stronger and more memorable presence on in-vehicle digital displays.
Newberry also launched the Quu Visual Network, which allows national brands to deliver visual radio ads through local stations. Quu has commissioned research, including the annual In-Vehicle Visual Reports and a case study, which found that on-screen campaigns can increase purchase intent by 89%.
Looking beyond dashboards
Quu plans to extend its technology beyond dashboards into digital audio, streaming and other emerging platforms.
“The past five years at Quu have been incredibly rewarding. We’ve worked hard to make visual radio seamless and accessible to stations of all sizes,” said Newberry. “Now our remarkable team is focused on new products to drive ratings and revenue across broadcast, digital and future platforms. I’m excited about what’s next, not just for Quu, but for the entire radio industry.”
Newberry is a well-known figure in U.S. broadcasting. He previously served as joint board chair and executive vice president of the National Association of Broadcasters, and is a recipient of the NAB National Radio Award. He is also the founder and chairman of Commonwealth Broadcasting Corporation, a radio group in Kentucky.
