Radio Republik Indonesia has modernized its studios with new mixing consoles and routing equipment from Lawo, marking a step toward fully IP-based broadcasting.
Indonesia’s public broadcaster installed three 14-fader crystal consoles and a Power Core router between October and December 2024. The new setup improves workflow efficiency and prepares the broadcaster to transition to remote and IP-connected production.
Founded in 1945, RRI is the country’s national radio network, broadcasting news, education and entertainment to international audiences and across Indonesia. Based in Central Jakarta, RRI connects diverse regions and communities across the archipelago.
In the project’s first phase, RRI interconnected its three studios using Madi. A second phase will transition the operation to Ravenna IP networking, enabling flexible playout, seamless routing and remote site integration.
The Lawo equipment supports a compact, scalable studio design. The crystal consoles feature a configurable interface and DSP-based audio processing, while the Power Core router handles routing and I/O management across the facility.
Lawo says this upgrade supports RRI’s move toward more agile operations, cloud-based workflows and future technology integration.
