Broadcaster Zoe Ball will join Greatest Hits Radio in September to host a new weekday afternoon show, marking her return to daily radio following her departure from the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
Ball will present “Zoe Ball in the Afternoon” from 1-4 p.m. weekdays beginning Monday, Sept. 7. The show slots into the station’s daytime lineup between Ken Bruce’s mid-morning program and Simon Mayo at drivetime. The line-up will then feature three former BBC Radio 2 presenters in succession. The appointment brings another high-profile presenter to Bauer Media Audio UK’s national station, which has continued to invest in established radio personalities as it expands its audience.
Ball said, “There’s something truly special about radio — the relationship you build with listeners, the energy, the music and the moments of joy and laughter you share. I’ve missed it, and this felt like the right time to begin a new chapter with Greatest Hits Radio.”

The weekday program will feature celebrity guests, listener interaction and recurring features, including “Something for the Weekend” on Fridays. Ball will also continue to co-host the “Dig It” podcast with Jo Whiley.
Bauer also announced additional schedule changes beginning in September. Kate Thornton will launch a new Saturday evening show while continuing to host the “UK Pop 40” on Sundays. Claire Sturgess will take over the weekend breakfast show, airing Saturdays and Sundays from 6-9 a.m.
Andy Ashton, content director at Greatest Hits Radio, said the station had already begun developing Ball’s new program ahead of its September launch.
