Red Apple Audio Networks, the syndication division of New York City-based Red Apple Media, has launched its new Worldwide News Network (WWNN) using the NewsCloud newsroom platform developed by Radio.Cloud. The network began operations on May 23.
WWNN is the latest venture from Red Apple Audio Networks. It distributes hourly news reports to affiliate stations across the United States.
Lee Harris, vice president of news at Worldwide News Network and WABC Radio, said NewsCloud was selected because of the network’s accelerated deployment schedule. “Given our very aggressive deployment timeline, NewsCloud was the best choice for launching the Worldwide News Network,” Harris said. “It has been super customized for our operation and will allow us to provide a level of service to affiliates that no other network has ever been able to provide. Our new staff was able to master NewsCloud very quickly.”
According to Radio.Cloud, NewsCloud combines newsroom production, content management and distribution tools within a single platform. The system also supports live newscast distribution through its NewsCloud Player and connects multiple content sources through an editorial interface.
Christian Brenner, founder and CEO of Radio.Cloud, said the WWNN deployment marks the North American launch of the NewsCloud platform. “While Radio.Cloud has supported hundreds of affiliates across the United States with cloud-native radio automation for many years, this marks the North American debut of NewsCloud, our newsroom platform,” Brenner said. “NewsCloud brings the entire newsroom workflow into one unified platform, replacing the many separate tools traditionally used for news production and enabling broadcasters to produce, localize, manage, and distribute news content faster and more efficiently.”
Chad Lopez, president of Red Apple Media and WABC Radio, said the cloud-based architecture enabled the network to launch quickly and support affiliate customization. “We needed a next generation newsroom system to run the Worldwide News Network from wherever news is happening,” Lopez said. “NewsCloud’s cloud-based architecture allowed us to deploy our network in record time and will enable us to provide a level of customization for affiliates that no other network has even been able to deliver.”
