Triton Digital has released the first 2023 Australian Podcast Ranker. The ranker provides insight into the top 150 podcasts, the top 150 Australian-made podcasts, ranked by monthly listeners per the latest IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines, and the top publishers and sales representatives in Australia from Jan. 1 through Jan. 31 as measured by Triton’s Podcast Metrics measurement service.
The month of January had 67.8 million downloads; the top three publishers were, in order, ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia, SiriusXM Podcast Network and LiSTNR (SCA).
The top three podcasts for both the Top Podcast Ranker and the Australian-Made Ranker included “Casefile True Crime”(Audioboom) again in first position, “Mamamia Out Loud” (Mamamia) again in second place, and “The Kyle & Jackie O Show,” climbing to third position.
The Top Podcast Ranker had several debuts, including “The Tim Dillon Show”(ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia), “Girls Next Level” (ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia) and “Fill My Cup” (Mamamia).
New podcasts for the Top 150 (Australian-Made) Ranker included Darling, Shine! (LiSTNR (SCA)), “Aunty Donna Podcast” (LiSTNR (SCA)) and “Central Station True Stories from Outback Australia” (NOVA Entertainment).
Triton Digital says that as of this month, it has transitioned from its website Podcast Ranker PDFs to publishing all data on its dedicated Podcast Rankers site, which features a new ability to export PDFs based on different data filter criteria. The PDFs from 2022 are still available to view on the Rankers site.
