Lawo powers new broadcast training studios at Edith Cowan University
Tieline says it will introduce its new ViA Duo codec at the 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas. The company describes the unit as an ultra-portable broadcast platform designed to support remote broadcasts, commentary and off-tube production workflows.
According to the Perth-based codec manufacturer, the ViA Duo builds on the company’s existing ViA technology and is designed to combine several IP-based production functions in a single device.
Charlie Gawley, vice president of sales APAC/EMEA at Tieline, said the new codec is intended to support a range of field and studio-linked production scenarios. “ViA Duo is Tieline’s new generation remote codec that builds on our trusted ViA technology,” he said. “It bridges the gap between field reporting and commentary and operates as an IP codec, an AoIP commentary node, or facilitates off-tube broadcasting through support for audio and a video feed.”

Tieline says the unit can be used by reporters working with guests, commentators covering sports events, announcers broadcasting from home, or hosts producing talk shows on the road. The company adds that the codec can also be used for off-tube commentary over AoIP protocols, including AES67, ST2110-30, Livewire, Ravenna and Dante, with the Dante card available as an option.
The handheld unit includes two XLR mic/line inputs and headphone outputs, and supports bidirectional stereo or dual-mono IP audio transmission from remote locations via cellular, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet connections.
Tieline says the codec integrates functions typically handled by external equipment such as mixers, equalizers, compressors, noise gates, expanders and recorders into a single device.
The company adds that the unit can also be used as an AoIP node in stadium commentary booths, connecting via LAN to remote broadcast trucks or via WAN to studio REMI production hubs. Off-tube commentary is supported through the ability to receive a live video feed for remote match calling. Remote control is available through Tieline’s Toolbox web interface embedded in the device, or via the optional Cloud Codec Controller.
Tieline will demonstrate the ViA Duo at the 2026 NAB Show at booth C2246.
