Italian community radio station RLV La Radio a Colori has teamed up with the water resource education network Il Pianeta Azzurro (The Blue Planet) to host a new program, “A Drop a Day.” Andrea Ferrari Trecate, Il Pianeta Azzurro’s editor and environmental communication expert, will drive the project.
Starting Monday, July 8, “A Drop a Day” will cover ecology, environmental education, biology, events, and environmental protection issues. It will be broadcast daily, Monday through Friday, at 8:10 a.m. The entire week’s broadcast will then be rebroadcast as a single program on Sundays from 2.10 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Founded in 2003, Il Pianeta Azzurro popularizes hydrobiology issues and initiatives focusing on global water resources via publications, a book series, its website and related social media networks. Its communication and environmental education projects target parks, reserves, sports groups, environmental associations, teachers and students.
RLV, headquartered in Levanto, a famous seaside resort along the Italian Riviera, 80 km east of Genoa, started broadcasting in 1976 under the name Radio Levanto. In the 1980s, it became Radio Levanto Val di Vara, then contracted to the current acronym RLV and embraced the identity “La Radio a Colori.”
