Spotify says that high-quality music streaming is consistently one of the most requested new features by its users. The company is working on delivering this option with a new premium subscription option: Spotify HiFi.
It announced the intent to begin rolling out the new offering in select markets later this year on their Stream On program. Spotify HiFi will allow listeners to experience their music in CD-quality, lossless audio format, according to the company. The service will be available across devices and on Spotify Connect-enabled speakers.
American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish and record producer Finneas had a guest spot on the program to speak about the importance of high-quality audio options for creators and fans.
Spotify did not provide details about the timeline or pricing structure, but it promised more information soon.
