The Telos Alliance knows that as the audience for streaming audio continues to grow, savvy broadcasters understand the need to treat their streams with the same care as their over-the-air signals. To that end, it offers the Z/IPStream R/20, a 1RU dedicated hardware streaming and processing appliance (shown), and Z/IPStream X/20, a software version for Windows PCs and servers.
On the audio processing side, users can choose between the proven standard three-band Omnia processing or upgrade to Omnia Forza HDS or flagship Omnia.9 processing. Nielsen and Fifty5Blue audience measurement watermarking is optionally available, along with Déjà Vu 2-to-5.1-channel upmixing and MPEG-Surround encoding.
In addition to supporting linear PCM audio, Z/IPStream X/20 and R/20 offer a variety of genuine Fraunhofer IIS encoders, including AAC-LC, HE-AAC, HE-AAC v2, xHE-AAC and MP3, with bitrates ranging from 16 kbps to 320 kbps depending on the codec used. Microsoft’s Smooth Streaming and Apple’s HLS are supported for adaptive bitrate streaming.
Supported streaming servers and delivery platforms include Icecast, Shoutcast v2, Adobe Media Server and Wowza, as well as Triton Digital, LimeLight, Akamai and other popular streaming services.
