RFmondial is introducing its broadcast DAB modulator/exciter LV5e module at IBC2024. The company says the new module will enable transmitter manufacturers to enter the DAB broadcast market or provide existing manufacturers with an alternative source for their production.
The LV5e is an OEM fully digital broadcast exciter that can be easily integrated into existing transmitter designs. Built on a fail-safe, embedded platform, the module features crucial functionalities such as seamless operating on multiple incoming EDI streams, precise SFN timing control, advanced signal processing like crest factor reduction and limiter, and adaptive pre-correction.
Furthermore, a competitive characteristic of the LV5e is the integrated monitoring capability, which is based on proven RF-DAB monitoring and measurement receiver technology, which provides incoming EDI analysis and statistics, absolute SFN timing monitoring, measurement diagrams like spectrum, MER over carrier, constellation, time-based diagrams of measurement values and an embedded services decoder.
The design is based on the established symbiosis of RFmondial’s experience developing and manufacturing professional digital broadcast devices and integrated, highly sophisticated components based on Fraunhofer IIS technology. The module is displayed at the Fraunhofer stand — 8.B80 — and reaches market maturity in Q2 2025.
RFMondial says transmitter manufacturers are welcome to ask for evaluation and integration discussions.
