Variety the hallmark
According to organizers TBC Media Ltd., this year’s opening sessions highlight the event’s hallmark variety of broadcast technology topics:
- “From cockpits to studios” — Pilot James Taylor will explore what the broadcast industry can learn from aviation’s approach to safety and crew resource management, particularly in high-pressure studio environments.
- “Esports and your career” — The BFBS radio technology team will share how they staged an esports event for the network, outlining lessons learned and transferable skills for broadcast professionals.
- “Solar power plus” — Engineers from West Africa will discuss a BBC project to transition transmission sites in Ghana to solar energy, with insights into adapting the technology for use in wetter climates such as the U.K.
Ann Charles of TBC Media said, “Radio TechCon is the most exciting day of the year for people who love technology and audio. Whether you work in studios, software, projects, production or traditional engineering, there will be something to discover, learn and share. We can’t wait to welcome you.”
