Berlin-based studio/production house jay jay not long ago added a pair of Genelec 8351 speakers as the main monitors. The studio serves the ad industry with notable clients such as BMW, Under Armour, Vinted and Volkswagen., according to a release. It was founded in 2017 by longtime collaborators Jared Meier-Klodt and Johannes Stegemann
Meier-Klodt said, “We aim to create tracks that don’t really sound like your regular advertising music. … The next step is to shape the music to support the story’s key moments and emotional beats.”
Addressing their needs, he added, “We wanted something with depth and openness – monitors that could deliver bass without needing a sub. The 8351B is the perfect mix of openness and bass.”
The release explains further, “[T]he pair later introduced GLM software to fine-tune the setup for multiple listening positions. Stegemann adds, “GLM is a huge factor because rooms are never perfect. We now have three optimized positions — our main production desk, the client couch, and a standing position for when we’re playing instruments. It’s seamless.”
Summarizing, the release said, “Since calibrating the system, both founders have noticed a marked improvement in mix clarity and consistency.”
