Inovonics has released a firmware update for its 677 EAS Triple Tuner, expanding the unit’s compatibility to include both current hardware-based and emerging software-based emergency alert systems.
Firmware version 1.1.0.0 enables the 677 to deliver three simultaneous audio streams suitable for software-based EAS solutions, as stated by the company. Inovonics claims that this enhances the receiver’s operational lifespan and safeguards broadcasters’ investments as EAS technology continues to progress.
The 677 EAS Triple Tuner is an all-digital device featuring three discrete receivers that can handle any combination of AM, FM and weather band signals. Each receiver has its own off-air antenna input and balanced monaural XLR output. The unit remains fully compatible with DASDEC and Sage EAS hardware.
The firmware is available as a free download via the Model 677 page on the Inovonics website.
Ben Barber, president and CEO of Inovonics, stated that the update reflects the company’s focus on future readiness. “With the current debate about hardware versus software-based EAS solutions, we wanted to assure customers that their 677 EAS Triple Tuner will continue to do its job well, regardless of the system they choose,” he said.
