It probably didn’t get a gold watch but after a good 10-year run Inovonics has announced the retirement of the INOmini 635 FM SiteStreamer.
According to the company almost 3,000 635s were sold over that 10-year period and there are no more left in the warehouse for anyone to buy for old time’s sake. Its replacement in the lineup is the recently released 645 FM SiteStreamer II.
The handy remote monitoring tool has an interesting generation story. Inovonics President and CEO Ben Barber, “Developing the original 635 FM SiteStreamer was an idea inspired by a local Santa Cruz radio engineer Brant Herrett. He had a need to monitor a 10W translator down in a canyon that he could not hear remotely. Sometimes it would go off the air for days before someone would call to let him know there was an issue.”
Barber comments on the resulting SiteStreamer family, “I think it helps engineers sleep better at night.”
