Commercial radio reaches 15 million Australians each week, four times more than ad-supported Spotify, according to the 2025 edition of the “Infinite Dial Australia” report, released by Commercial Radio & Audio and Edison Research.
CRA and Edison Research say one in three Australians aged 25–54 now stream radio weekly — up 6.5% on the previous year — and half of Australians consume podcasts monthly. The report states that 52% of the population listens to audio or video podcasts monthly.
CRA CEO Lizzie Young said, “With one in three Australians aged 25–54 now streaming radio weekly, up 6.5% since last year, and half of Australians consuming podcasts monthly, the message is loud and clear: audio delivers scale, impact and connection and gives audiences what they want, when they want, however they want it.”

Edison Research President Larry Rosin said, “The ‘Infinite Dial 2025 Australia’ report highlights radio’s strong appeal across all age groups even as many other options proliferate. Commercial radio delivers the most reach among all audio options for Australian advertisers.”
Total radio remains the top choice for in-car audio. CRA and Edison Research report that 84% of Australians aged 18 and older who travelled in a car in the past month listened to radio while on the road. More than one in four now stream radio in their vehicles, which the researchers say points to growing digital adoption.

Smart speaker ownership also remains steady, with four in 10 Australian households owning at least one device.
Young added, “For advertisers, audio connects brands across the entire customer journey. Whether it’s trusted scale for brand awareness, precision targeting, or influencing highly engaged audiences, audio’s versatility makes it the most effective and essential medium in any media strategy.”
