Factum Radioscape is supporting the new local DAB multiplex for Ceredigion, a rural county on the west coast of Wales, operated by MuxCo Wales. The multiplex, powered by Factum Radioscape’s hosted MultiMuxa service, delivers high-quality digital radio to the region.
The ensemble features three key BBC services alongside programming from Nation Broadcasting. “We needed to find a solution to serve rural Ceredigion to secure renewal of its transmission license for the wider West Wales area,” said Martin Mumford, managing director of MuxCo Wales. “Serving Ceredigion provided a number of technical and commercial challenges, and we’re pleased to include Radioscape multiplexing software as part of our solution. The Ceredigion multiplex launched on its own frequency block, meaning it could be multiplexed separately from the existing transmitters and offer listeners a different selection of radio stations.”

The multiplex currently broadcasts six stations in DAB+ format: Nation Radio, Nation 80s and Dragon Radio, BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio Cymru 2. The transmission is based at Llanbadarn Fawr, a strategic site ensuring optimal coverage across the county, which stretches along Cardigan Bay and includes coastal towns such as Aberystwyth and Cardigan.
“We are delighted to be working with MuxCo Wales to bring local digital radio services to Ceredigion,” said James Waterson, sales manager at Factum Radioscape. “MultiMuxa ensures a seamless, cost-effective and future-proofed approach to DAB multiplexing. Hosting the encoding and multiplexing at our data centre supports broadcasters with round-the-clock monitoring using our MultiMonitor software while managing any new services joining the ensemble.”
Factum Radioscape says this collaboration highlights its commitment to delivering high-performance DAB solutions for broadcasters across the U.K. and beyond.
