The DRM Consortium and several international and Indian members will participate in the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (Waves), May 1–4, at the Jio Convention Centre in Mumbai.
Promoted as a large-scale gathering for India’s media and entertainment sector, Waves 2025 will feature an exhibition, conference and business networking platform. Its four focus areas are broadcasting, animation, digital media and film. According to organizers, the summit aims to position India as a global media content creation and investment hub.
The DRM Consortium will participate in the event’s broadcasting and infotainment segment. Its exhibition stand will feature demonstrations of the latest developments in Digital Radio Mondiale technology, including receivers for car dashboards, standalone units and mobile devices. Consortium members — including CML, Fraunhofer IIS, Starwaves, Gospell, Inntot, OptM, NXP, RFmondial, Alongside Tech and Solar Grove Solutions — will present various components of the DRM transmission chain and explain applications for AM and FM broadcasting, such as distance learning, emergency warning systems and public signage.
New receiver solutions are expected to feature prominently, and the DRM group indicated that a vehicle equipped with a DRM-capable receiver will be on display.
In addition to the exhibition, DRM Chairman Ruxandra Obreja and Vice Chairman Alexander Zink of Fraunhofer IIS will participate in a panel discussion titled “Radio Re-imagined: Thriving in the Digital Age.” The session is scheduled for May 2 from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
