Audio imaging company Benztown has released an audio tribute to President Jimmy Carter, who died Dec. 29, 2024, at 100 in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, surrounded by family. Born James Earl Carter Jr., he was the 39th president of the United States, serving from 1977 to 1981. Carter is the first U.S. president born in a hospital and the first to reach the age of 100.
Carter was elected president in 1976, defeating Republican incumbent Gerald Ford in the wake of the Watergate scandal. He served one term before losing re-election in 1980 to Ronald Reagan. A former Georgia peanut farmer and U.S. Navy lieutenant, Carter began his political career in the Georgia State Senate from 1963 to 1967 and later served as Georgia’s 76th governor from 1971 to 1975. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his global efforts in peacebuilding and human rights causes he championed after leaving the White House.
The former president entered home hospice care in February 2023 following several hospitalizations. His wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, died on Nov. 19, 2023, at age 96. Carter is survived by his children Jack, Chip, Jeff and Amy, along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
