Radiodays Europe has teamed up with the British Podcast Awards and the Australian Podcast Awards to put together Podcast Day 24, a 24-hour online conference on June 7, 2021. The global event will have presenters from Australia, Europe and North America. Organizers continue to add to their roster of speakers for their “Round the World” tour of podcast markets.
Kellie Riordan is a leading podcast strategist and the creative force behind many of Australia’s most popular podcasts.
Petter Sommer is head of Podcasts at Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation and produced the news podcast Oppdatert (Updated), which won the award for Podcast of the Year in Norway in 2020.
Norbert Grundei, head of audio strategy at Norddeutscher Rundfunk, led the creation of “NDR Info Coronavirus Update,” which is considered the most successful podcast start in Germany and was streamed more than 60 million times in the first 6 months.
Anna Priestland is an Australian independent podcast writer and producer covering human interest, history and true-crime.
Sophie von der Tann is a correspondent for the public German broadcaster ARD in Berlin, reporting on federal politics for radio, TV and online. Together with her colleagues, she developed the Tagesschau Zukunftspodcast.
Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s Audience Researcher, Rasmus Kidde, will present on “Knowing your podcast listener,” based on research carried out by DR on the listeners to podcasts in Denmark today.
Tolani Shoneye, Audrey Indome and Milena Sanchez, a.k.a The Receipts, will talk about the deals and partnerships that made their show a hit with audiences as well as a successful business. NPR’s Tamar Charney, senior director of Collaborative Journalism and Neal Carruth, senior director of On-Demand News will address NPR’s work in creating local and national news experiences beyond broadcast radio.
Happy Place star and creator, Fearne Cotton, will speak about her mental-health podcast and what she thinks has contributed to the show’s success. She’ll be conversing with Holly Bott, managing director of Entertainment at YMU Group.
Knud Brix, host of Genstart (Restart), the Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s successful news podcast will also be a speaker. In addition, BBC Five Live’s Dan Maudsely will discuss the making of Paradise and On the Ground, his new show that explores the perils of “friendly fire.”

Tickets to attend are £99 (€114) +VAT, but are available at the reduced price of £75 (€87) +VAT until the end of March.
Podcast Day 24 aims to be an accessible event, so it is has set aside a number of free tickets in a bursary for those who have barriers that may prevent them from attending, including financial constraints. They encourage applicants who are currently underrepresented in the podcast sector – including, but not limited to: people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, women and carers.
