The Ministry of Information of Oman, operating as Oman TV, has enhanced its central theater with a hybrid system designed for live events and broadcast production. The upgraded audio infrastructure is powered by Lawo’s IP-based solutions, facilitating real-time signal sharing among Oman TV’s 20 studios and five national channels.
Traditional auditorium designs often lack broadcast-grade redundancy. However, Oman TV aimed to convert the theater into an additional broadcast studio. This transition necessitated a robust IP networking infrastructure to ensure seamless transmission without compromising performance.
Pixel Solutions, a systems integrator based in Muscat, collaborated with Lawo to implement the new system. Anas Alkurdi, CEO of Pixel Solutions, stated, “Lawo’s solutions and expertise helped us design a system that exceeds Oman TV’s exacting standards.”
Lawo technology at the Core
The theater’s audio infrastructure features a Lawo mc²56 MkIII audio production console with 32 faders and an AUHD Core audio engine. This configuration manages over 1,000 DSP channels and more than 100 audio inputs and outputs, handling both live event mixing and broadcast distribution.
Two A_stage64 stageboxes provide signal connectivity across the venue, adhering to ST2110 standards. Lawo’s HOME management platform offers centralized control of connected devices, streamlining hybrid production workflows.
The theater also includes an AVL system designed to enhance live productions. An 11m x 5m LED video wall from LEDman serves as the stage backdrop, complemented by over 60 Prolights fixtures providing lighting. Bose Professional ArenaMatch AM10 loudspeakers and ShowMatch SMS118 subwoofers ensure precise audio coverage, developed in collaboration with Bose’s design team.
Additionally, the venue features commentary and translation booths equipped with Studio Technologies’ Model 214A announcer’s console and Model 348 intercom station, integrated with Lawo’s infrastructure.
