Sennheiser Spectera sits at center of NEP Australia’s audio overhaul
International carmaker Stellantis (e.g. Chrysler, Jeep, Citreon, Fiat, Maserati, etc.) has opened a Dolby Atmos audio lab in Bangalore, India, featuring Genelec speakers.
The 9.1.6configuration uses Genelec 8361 speakers for the L-C-R positions, 8351s for surround and height channels, plus a 7382 subwoofer for the subwoofer channel. Genelec’s 9301 AES/EBU interface handles the multichannel connections with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager software conducting the whole show.
So why is a carmaker opening a sound lab? Stellantis Chief Software Officer Yves Bonnefont explained, “Audio plays a vital role in our customers’ satisfaction and enjoyment of their vehicles, as well as alerting them to key functions and driving situations.”
Director and Space Leader in Acoustics Engineering Akshay Khanna confirmed, “The lab was created to help develop our in-house audio signature for cars.”
Khanna added, “Genelec’s technology is playing a vital role in meeting our requirements. … It offers us an unobtrusive footprint without compromising on bandwidth, tonality, or SPL. It’s one of the few monitors that provides AES digital inputs, reducing cabling needs and enabling digital up-sampling. This alignment with our needs was essential for the project.”
